Off The Rails Arthouse is an artist led organisation run on a voluntary basis, offering a space to explore a wide range of arts-related activities.

This structured, day long course is for designers, artists and anyone wishing to learn how to transform a sheet of paper into three dimensional forms.

Participants will be introduced to the basic principles of paper folding and will learn various techniques and designs including spiral folds, flat pleats and herringbone tessellations.

During the course we will work on several projects and students will have the opportunity to create their own experimental variations and design their own pattern.

We will also look at the history of folding and at the work of several contemporary paper folding artists to examine how it is currently used in fashion, architecture and design.

A choice of colours of high quality paper will be provided as well as all tools, materials and refreshments.

Students will leave equipped with the techniques and inspiration to continue folding themselves.

No experience necessary and all ages welcome (under 14s must be accompanied by an adult who is also taking the class).

Course fee - £65 (including  all tools, materials and refreshments.)
